What the app offers
Every visitor can set up your store so it works best for them — with a ready-made profile or setting by setting.
Accessibility profiles
One click switches several settings at once: cursor & click targets, color filter & links, calm view, large & high contrast, low stimulation, reading focus. Profiles are named after what they change — “low stimulation” pauses animations and mutes colors, but it cannot reach flashing content from third parties (videos, GIFs, ad frames).
Text & display
Bigger text, line height, letter spacing, text alignment, alternative typeface in two steps (a clear standard typeface from the device, or OpenDyslexic — some people find it easier to read, the effect is not proven), hide images (background images from the theme CSS may stay visible), image descriptions, pause animations (GIFs and third-party frames are not affected), bigger cursor.
Color
Contrast, brightness, saturation, invert colors, grayscale and color matrices (protanopia, deuteranopia, tritanopia), plus a contrast scheme that enforces a checked color pair for text and background (black on white, white on black, yellow on black or dark brown on beige — images stay unchanged). The filters change how the page looks; they do not correct a color vision deficiency and do not replace color-independent labelling in your store.
Navigation & reading
Reading guide, reading mask, underline links in body text or highlight them strongly at a second level, make the keyboard focus visible (many themes hide that marker), a skip link to the main content that appears once it is reached with the Tab key, page structure, and reading the clicked paragraph aloud. Reading aloud uses your browser's speech output, which is not available everywhere: the widget prefers a voice installed on the device, but if none is available the text being read may be transmitted to the browser's maker. The widget itself sends the text to nobody.
Statement generator & automatic WCAG self-check
Create a structured accessibility statement, and have one public page of your store checked automatically for typical technical barriers: missing alt text, a missing lang attribute, heading hierarchy, links without text, form fields without a label or blocked zoom. You get a list of concrete pointers on what to fix yourself — guidance, not a certification, and no automatic repair.
Data-minimal & accessible itself
The settings a visitor chooses stay in their browser only. The widget does count anonymously how often it is shown and how often each function is switched on: all we store are daily totals per store. The counting itself stores no IP address, no browser identifier (user agent) and no referring page, sets no cookies, uses no identifier and does not recognise visitors across pages or visits. As with any web server, technically necessary server log files are created; they are used solely to fix faults and are deleted after 7 days at the latest. You can switch the counting off in the app at any time; then the widget sends nothing at all. Available in 5 languages (de/en/fr/it/es) and operable by keyboard and screen reader.
What this app does NOT do
It does not automatically make your store BFSG/EAA compliant, and it does not replace accessible theme design or legal advice. It adds convenience features for visitors and supports you with the statement generator and the automatic self-check.
It also repairs nothing automatically. Missing labels, a broken heading structure or a form that cannot be operated are beyond what any overlay can reliably fix. That is why we promise no “real-time correction” and instead show you in the self-check what you need to fix in your theme and your content.
It also protects no one from health triggers: the widget only affects the page itself. Flashing videos, GIFs and content inside third-party frames are out of its reach, and a color filter changes the display without correcting a color vision deficiency.
